The Museum of the Whale of Madeira, MBM, is a museum about the history of whaling in the seas of the Madeira archipelago. It is in the fishing village of Caniçal, in Machico. Its creation was proposed in 1989 and was established in 1990.
From 1990 to 2000, the museum operated in the old fish market of Caniçal, with the name Municipal Museum of the Whale. From 2000 to 2011 the scientific research projects started, and from 2011 onwards, it moved to a new building.
